Course Content
- occupational skills (tool & equipment use, including cleaning, sanitizing & disinfecting, preparing for client services
- hair & scalp care (analysis, shampooing & conditioning)
- hair cutting (shears, razor, clippers & trimmers)
- styling hair (wet hair, dry hair, finishing)
- chemically waving & relaxing (permanent waves & chemical relaxing)
- colouring hair (colour hair darker & lighter, colour correction)
- wigs, hairpieces & extensions (operations & services)
- sales & marketing (front desk duties, marketing products & services)
- esthetic services (basic manicures & pedicures, waxing & make up services)
Credentials
- receive 32 credits (8 courses)over 2 years at the Grade 11 & 12 level
- students will gain credit for 800 hours of instruction in a training salon
- students will gain credit for 700 work experience hours (dependent upon availability)
- may be eligible to write the ITA Certificate of Qualification Exam at the end of the 2nd year
